2014 APRA Art Music Award – Goulburn Regional Conservatorium

The Goulburn Regional Conservatorium was thrilled to receive the 2014 Art Music Award for Excellence in a Regional Area for the musical performance of “The Goulburn Oratorio”. The multi-layered, collaborative work took place on November 3rd, 2013 after a long period of preparation, planning and rehearsal. The work drew together several hundred community and amateur musicians from across the region as far afield as Mittagong, Picton and Canberra. The performance included an orchestra of over one hundred players, a large choir, actor, dancer, puppetry and a coordinated light projection show onto St Saviours Cathedral. The foundational musical work was composed by eminent Australian composer Stephen Leek taking the words of regional poets as inspiration and offering a view of the past and a vision of a possible future. The event itself was conceived and conducted by GRC Director, Paul Scott-Williams.
