High quality music education and performance

Our member conservatoriums are embedded in regional NSW communities to lead, support and promote music education and performance.

We are major contributors to music education and cultural development for our regions.

NSW Regional Conservatoriums offer an inclusive, professional and encouraging environment for music education and growth.

Leading regional music education

Regional Conservatoriums are partially funded by the NSW Government through the NSW Department of Education (DoE) to develop these programs within NSW DoE schools.

In most cases, Regional Conservatoriums are the principal provider of music education and performance in their respective regions. The Association’s commitment to regional NSW begins with the pursuit of quality music education programs.

Regional Conservatoriums support schools by:

  • implementing music education activities aligned to NESA requirements

  • providing students with individual and group music tuition in schools and off-site

  • leading and developing bands, choirs and ensembles

  • designing and delivering gifted and talented programs

  • providing teacher professional learning courses.

Regional Conservatoriums support their communities by:

  • providing lifelong music tuition from pre-school to adult

  • promoting community well-being through music-making opportunities

  • presenting concerts, workshop and masterclasses with leading professional artists

  • resourcing community music initiatives like eisteddfods and town bands.

A regional employer

As a collective, we are also a major employer. Each Conservatorium is committed to developing the professional capacity of its teaching staff, and committed to attracting and employing skilled professionals who would otherwise not live in regional NSW.

Our teachers and tutors are qualified and experienced music specialists. Everyone engaged by the Conservatorium is required to have a Working with Children Check and is trained in Child Protection.

Regional Conservatoriums are self-governing not-for-profit organisations managed by community Boards. These Boards of management each are representative of the communities and regions that our members serve.
